Greydles really another water archetype?!?!?!

Post by slimboy97 on Sun Jun 28, 2015 5:58 pm

Yes I know other people have made videos and have written articles about the new water archetype that has been announced Greydles so far only three monsters have been announced so I will talk about these three monsters in this article.

First up Greydle Dragon

Greydle Dragon
Level 8 WATER Aqua-Type Synchro Effect Monster
ATK 3000
DEF 2000
1 Aqua-Type Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

You can only use each of these effects of “Greydle Dragon” once per turn.
• When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can target cards your opponent controls, up to the number of WATER monsters used for the Synchro Summon of this card; destroy them.
• If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 WATER monster in your Graveyard, except this card; Special Summon that monster, but its effects are negated.

my thoughts on this card are simple it's a good card but it isn't that generic as it does require an aqua tuner to be synchro summoned and including the tuner monster we are getting in this archetype there are only six tuner monsters that are aqua monsters it would better and more accessible if it required a water tuner instead of an aqua tuner but I will digress. Onto its effect its first effect that it gets when it is synchro summoned is pretty good as you will be popping at least four cards and that's if you use the other monsters in the archetype to synchro summon this card potentially if you put this card in a water deck that has let's say level 2 monsters you could potentially be destroying four cards by summoning him out this destruction effect is pretty good as it can help you get past problematic cards that your opponent may have on their field. Now its second effect that it gets when it is destroyed and sent to the graveyard and can special summon a water monster but negate its effects is what really makes this card good in the archetype. all monsters in the archetype that have been announced so far are floaters so their effects don't even go off until they hit the graveyard so they don't even care if they have their effects negated because they will just get them once they hit the graveyard.

onto the next card in the archetype the tuner monster

Greydle Slime
Level 5 WATER Aqua-Type Tuner Effect Monster
ATK 0
DEF 2000

If this card is in your hand or Graveyard: You can target 2 “Greydle” cards you control; destroy them, and if you do [destroy at least 1], Special Summon this card. You can only use this effect of “Greydle Slime” once per turn.
When Special Summoned this way: You can target 1 “Greydle” monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that monster in Defense Position.

my thoughts on this card. One once again its first effect that destroys greydle cards you control to special summon itself facilitates the floating and destruction mechanism of the deck and will thus help further your plays and will potentially net you advantage based on what you destroy and what effects you get off we will have to of course wait until more cards are announced to see what this card can truly do when it is special summoned. Now its second effect which is essentially instant synchro plays by means of special summoning one of the cards you sent to the graveyard and just using slime and that card to synchro summon into dragon to net yourself more advantage and further your plays along even further giving you an edge against your opponent.

onto the final card of the archetype that has been announced so far the effect monster

Greydle Eagle
Level 3 WATER Aqua-Type Effect Monster
ATK 1500
DEF 500

If this card is destroyed (by battle or monster effect) and sent to your Graveyard while it was a Monster Card under your control: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; equip this card to that monster your opponent controls.
While this card is equipped to a monster by that effect, take control of that monster. When this card leaves the field, destroy the equipped monster.

My thoughts on this card. Its first effect that it gets when it's destroyed makes it a walking snatch steal and you can get his effect off via the effect of slime or just crashing him into your opponent's monster and taking it that way. His second effect makes it harder for your opponent to get their monster back which helps you out even further when it comes to maintaining a field presence and having advantage over your opponent.

My thoughts on the archetype as it stands. It seems like it has potential to be a good archetype but we have to see what other cards we will get for this archetype before we can definitely say it's good or bad as it stands it looks as if it will be a good archetype

Well i dont like it...yeah the snach steal monsters effect is good but it is only activated by being destroyd by batle or card effect... Not that it is that much of a problem but it wont be that consistent because lets says your opponent puts a dark hole or raigeki...they will go to grave an dyou wont get alot with them...but then again i said the same back when mermails were released and they got like 100 more support cards and became a decent archetype...but if the same thing doesnt happen to this one i dont realy seem them used alot Smile

the thing is though you can get his effect off with slime and mermails were more than decent they were really good until dragon rulers and spellbooks came along

I believe if we get some traps and spells and more monsters they will be good and potentially meta depending on the lists that come up after future sets

Well depends and the other archetypes...curently with the cards that are out and with what i can see as potentional support i realy dont see them get more then tier 3 in OCG at best...they are just not god enough for the meta...

clownblade is not just cute, they if combined with heroic challengers and maybe satellarknights are deadly...expecialy with the new satellarknight monster that is basicly rank-up force card by itself, but better...also clownblade in the OCG at the moment are the most consistent rank-4 deck

Pepcho is right, did you not hear about the volcanic clownblade mashup that won a 300+ person tourney? It will do big things here

Well it was quite harsh to ban it tbh...it was good and overpowered at 3 or with the djin lock combo...one coud not hurt, it coud only be usefull for many of the decks.

Well most decks only ran it at one so hitting it to one is no big deal the Igknight FTK only needed one chain to kill you.

Oh god you and your igknights...Well clownblade dominated OCG just because of Chain, Nekroz had a very good route with chain as well, Shaddolls hade a very good use of it, and overall it was a crusial card at 2 sometimes for alot of decks...

Now as i said ive been trying to test my own bversion of as i call it the super hybrid, and i have to tell you, even in that deck some of the clowns can be sometimes dead, tho i have to admit the deck can summon 5 monsters on field reletivly easy. Its only problem for me now is trap heavy decks.
